INVITE GmbH is a joint research center run by BTS and Dortmund University of Technology. The company supports applied research into new production technologies and endeavors to put the results to practical use. It is involved in contract research work, publicly funded projects, work for the owners and other selected research projects it chooses to pursue. A particular focus of the research center is developing efficient and flexible production processes that conserve resources. One example is its cooperation with a number of European partners to create a model for a standardized modular “factory of the future”. Another INVITE project involves technologies that use excess energy from renewable energy sources to process carbon dioxide, for example as a raw material for the production of plastics.
