Dr. Günter Hilken

Dr. Günter Hilken was born in Leverkusen, Germany, in 1954. He studied chemistry at Cologne University, obtaining a doctorate in organic chemistry from the same institution in 1983. He joined Bayer’s Rubber Business Group at the Dormagen site in 1984. After several years in leading positions in R&D for the Rubber Business Group, he held positions as a plant manager in rubber production and as a site manager in Sarnia, Canada.
In 1999, Dr. Hilken became President of the Fibers, Additives and Rubber Division at Bayer Corp. in Akron, Ohio. He returned to Leverkusen in 2002 to become Head of Global Operations MDI at Bayer Polymers before taking over the Polycarbonates Business Unit of Bayer MaterialScience AG two years later. He was also appointed a member of the Bayer MaterialScience Executive Committee in 2007.
On August 1, 2011, he became Chairman of the Executive Board of Currenta GmbH & Co. OHG.
As of May 2014 Dr. Hilken has been Chairmann of the Board of the VCI NRW (Association of the Chemical Industry in North Rhine-Westphalia).
Dr. Alexander Wagner
Executive Board member of Currenta GmbH & Co. OHG
Dr. Alexander Wagner was born in Braunschweig, Germany, in 1970. After studying mechanical engineering with a concentration in process engineering at RWTH Aachen University, he obtained his doctorate from Leibniz Universität Hannover in 1999.
Wagner began his career at Bayer AG in 2000 as technical manager of a production facility for organic intermediates in Krefeld-Uerdingen. Two years later he assumed the position of technical manager for several multi-component production facilities of the Fine Chemicals Business Group, which from 2004 belonged to LANXESS. In 2006, he was named Head of Procurement Technical Goods and Services at the newly established Saltigo GmbH. He returned to LANXESS in 2010 as Head of Technology for the Advanced Industrial Intermediates business unit’s aromatics network at the Leverkusen, Dormagen and Brunsbüttel sites. In 2013, Wagner assumed responsibility for the unit’s global business with benzyl products and inorganic acids.
Since October 1, 2015, Dr. Alexander Wagner has been a member of the Executive Board of Currenta GmbH & Co. OHG. Among his functions on the Board is that of Labor Director.
